2018 BELMA Newsletter No 8

October 7. 2018

BELMA Newsletter 2018 No 8 - BELMA 2018 - Frankfurt Bookfair

Dear colleague

We are very excited to be able to present the winners of this year's BELMA on
  • Wednesday, October 10th at 16.00
  • on the educational stage in hall 4.2 C94 at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

It was very hard work for the jury this year because there were:
  • 50 entries from
  • 18 countries and
  • 28 publishers and institutions.

The spread of titles over the categories was more even than in previous years with:
  • 11 in category 1
  • 17 in category 2
  • 14 in category 3
  • 8 in category 4

If you have taken part in the competition this year or previously, you will know that each title, regardless whether they have won or not, receives a detailed analysis of the strengths and weaknesses from the jury. Professor Christoph Bläsi, a member of the jury and professor at the Institute for Book studies, Johannes-Gutenberg University, Mainz, will show at the award ceremony on Wednesday how these "do's" and "don'ts" can help to create better learning and teaching materials.

Because of the very high quality of the materials entered for the competition this year, the jury decided to award 15 prizes all together. Find out who the deserving winners are! Join us for the presentation and a drinks reception afterwards.

All the winning titles will be exhibited in physical form or on the screen at the EEPG stand in hall 4.2, B50 until Saturday 13th of October.

And as always: Don't hesitate to write if you have any questions.
